Box Four (End)

Hi everyone!

Since I took the decision not to keep on my crazy rhythm of the very beginning of this adventure, for it was impossible to juggle with both work and Lego building, I found I spend far more time in planning before actually beginning to hit the bricks. As a result, I am far less stressed when my ideas turn to be unrealistic. Sadly, this happened a lot lately and I had a few unsuccessful building sessions. But because I was under no deadline-induced pressure, I was finally able to pull it out and create a little ship.

I wanted this ship to look like one of the futuristic race video games like "Wipe Out". It is not very original, but I felt the available parts are really suiting this purpose. In the end, I am pretty proud of the result achieved, and the finished ship has a good racing look. The idea to make two pairs of wings turned out great, better than I originally expected. Anyway, I am really enthusiastic about it! Enjoy the pictures!

Hope you liked it!

See you soon with a new box of Lego!

Box Four (Continued)

Hi everyone!

One again, I have been swamped with work, and was not able to build anything from the pieces of the box I bought earlier. As a result, this page has not been updated for more than a week, which is in complete contradiction with the project I initially wanted. Anyway, I have been giving this quite a lot of thinking, and what appears to be the better solution is the following: while I will continue to put £10 in my piggy bank every on Mondays, I will not try to rush things up to buy a new box each week. This way, I will have more time to build and will buy bigger sets...

This settled, I would like to show here the pictures of a small ship I have managed to create using the bricks from the box. I am happy with it, as the result pretty much matches the sketches I have been making for it during the week. As I said it before, I was particularly fond of the strips of the original model, and I had a lot of fun trying to make some of my own. The rear of the ship, with the engines, is not really perfect, and I imagined it a little messier —with grey cables and odd antennas— but I had nothing to do the trick... Enjoy the pictures!

I hope the new system I am setting up will help me build with a quieter state of mind.
Time will tell!

Box Four

Hi everyone!

A new week has begun, and that means a whole new set of projects for me! As the Piggy Bank was containing almost £30 today, I chose to go for a bigger box than before. I also wanted to go for a Star Wars set for the first time. For all this reasons, I went for the beautiful blue and white starship you will find the photos below.

After building the model, I am truly happy with the bricks in the box! Moreover, I think the overall design and architecture of the miniature are really attractive yet complex enough to stimulate the curiosity. In particular, I think finish of the striping is really nicely done. Here come the pictures!

Due to the large amount of parts, I am confident I will have lots of fun fooling around this week!
Stay tuned!

Week Three (End)

Hi everyone!

The week will soon be over, and I would like to use the very last minute of this Sunday to show here the last thing I have built using the small Atlantis set 7977. This time, I did not tried to get too original, as I went for a small sea-bike. However, I wanted to give it a really speedy look unlike the original model, moving the propulsion helices to the back of it. Moreover, I liked the idea of having a very light cockpit, at the front of the engine. I find the final result quite good, specially for something I have build on the coffee table in less than an hour! Anyway, here come the pictures...

That's all for this week!
As I will have about £29 to spend the coming week, I am thinking about going big...
I'll keep you posted!

Week Three (Continued Again)

Hi everyone!

Once again this week I would like to share what I have been able to build using the small Atlantis box I have bought. As the week was slowly passing by, I had time give building more and more thinking, and I tried to find a new inspiration source. Then I remembered one of the Disney's animated films, Atlantis - which unsurprisingly is about a group of explorers searching for the lost continent. At the very end of it, the Atlantes ride some kind of fish-shaped flying vehicles, which I took as a starting point.

Mostly because of the colours of the bricks from the box, I had a giant-lobster idea of what my thing would look like. The more I was building though, the less the concept of "vehicle" was relevant, along with the "flying" which was switched to "swimming" instead. In the end, I am rather proud of the result, as it is fairly coherent with the idea I had at the very beginning and is at the same time very different from what I have built previously. Enjoy the pictures!

I have a last idea to have fun with this set, although it is less original... I will definitely try it during the week-end... Stay tuned!

Week Three (Continued)

Hi everyone!

As the week is slowly beginning, I had a little more time to myself, and I did manage to spare some to build a little bit. As I said before, I chose the model for this week not because I thought it was cool by itself -which is what I usually think about the Lego designs- but because it has great building opportunities to offer. Specially articulations. I wanted to try and have a little fun with very flexible architecture.

Anyway, as I have been watching James Cameron's Avatar lately, I had the idea to build some kind of man-driven walking robot, like an armour or a power-suit you might want to use to explore the deep sea. I am rather happy about the final look of it, in particular about the arms, the one with the drill being my favourite. Hope you will enjoy the pictures!

I should be able to share more building before the week is over, so stay tuned!

Week Three

Hi everyone!

Again, I am truly sorry for not having been able to update this page during the last week. Anyway, as the week-end is coming to an end I had a little time to myself and use it to crack the Atlantis box and built what is inside. Let's see how it turns out!

After building the small sea-scooter/deep sea walker, I must confess I am a little bit disappointed. In fact, I feel like the "walker" is way to bulky-looking, whereas the "speeder" has a strange look due to the folding of the legs... I had this feeling before buying the box, but I was convinced by the building opportunities the set has to offer. Everything will be sorted by the end of the week, as I will try to build more cool things from the bricks in the box...

Stay tuned!

PS: As of last week mess, the Piggy Bank contains £19,03... Next week is going to be fun!

Busy week...

Hi everyone!

I am truly sorry for my silence during the past week. After a very long day on Tuesday, I had managed to stop by the Lego store on my way home and bought the new Atlantis 7977 set. Since then, I have been completely overwhelmed by work and familial obligations...

Anyway, as this blog has been silent for a week, I have decided that I will build and fool around with this little Atlantis  box next week, and put the coming £10 directly into the Piggy Bank ("Do not pass go, Do collect £10") for they will be more usefull in the future...

As the week-end is looming at last, I will finally crack the box and build the speeder (Imagine how busy this week was!). And take a few photos to share, of course.

Sorry again for the numerous disappointed fans!
